If you have a small dog or one with light-colored fur then you probably have had tear staining issues.  Tear stains are those ugly stains around your dog's eyes caused by excessive tears. They're usually a reddish/rust color (depending on the color of your dog's fur) and are not only ugly, but could be a signal of a health problem.

Some of the main reasons dogs have excessive tears which produce stains are ear infections, allergies, blocked tear ducts, fleas, irritation from long hair around the eyes and red yeast.  Sometimes food can have dyes or beets in it that causes the dogs tears to cause discoloration as well.

Before you start to tackle the dog tear stains, you need to determine the cause and make sure its not a serious problem that you need to deal with first.  If your dog has tear stains, you've probably already been to the vet to see if anything is wrong, if you haven't ask your vet about the stains next time you're in for a checkup.

Once you've determined the cause of the excessive tearing you can take steps to deal with the problem.  Tear stains in dogs don't only look bad, but they can be uncomfortable for the dog as well.  The tears mat the fur around the eyes causing eye and skin irritation sometimes leading to other difficulties.  When the tears dry up the fur clumps together and causes discomfort and distress.  You might see your dog "washing" his face with his paws to try and get rid of the gunk under his eyes.

Angel Eyes tear stain remover wont clear up the gunk already on your dogs face.  You will need to gently remove that by gently washing, combing and clipping.  Watch the video below for some good hints on how to do this properly.  You may not be able to remove all the stained fur to begin with and will have to wait for it to grow out clean.

Angel Tears isn't a magic solution that you apply topically to your dog's face, but rather a diet supplement that prevents the tears from causing more stains.  It works from the inside out rather than on contact so solves the problem causing the tears not just bleaching the fur.  Depending on the size of your dog and how fast their fur grows you will see results in 3 to 5 weeks.  You will need to do some initial grooming around the eyes to get rid of the old stained fur as well.

If you have a dog that suffers from excessive dog tear stains sprinkling the directed amount of Angel Tears for Dogs on their food daily and then reducing the amount to a maintenance amount is much easier than trying to wash their face 2 to 3 times a day and still have to do it again tomorrow, easier on you and your angel pup!
